    The issues of enhancing investment cooperation in the Far East and the preparation for the Eastern Economic Forum were the subject of a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister - Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Russia Mr. D. Bala Venkatesh Varma.


    Yuri Trutnev noted the interest of Indian entrepreneurs in the Far East: “Cooperation between Russia and India in the Far East can and should be developed more intensively. This was shown by the Investor day held in Mumbai and the Eastern Economic Forum retreat. More than 130 representatives of 55 Indian companies took part in the events. Many of them are ready to work in the Far East. We will support these investors and provide them with tax benefits for the ADZ and the free port.”

    The Vice Prime Minister believes that the Indian track will be one of the main ones at the fifth anniversary Eastern Economic Forum. The main guest of the Forum this year is expected to be Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi. “We hope that in September in Vladivostok we will be able to present new projects with the participation of Indian capital,” said Yuri Trutnev.

    Mr. D. Bala Venkatesh Varmainformed about the readiness of heads of Indian states and entrepreneurs to visit the Far East on the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum. He asked for assistance in organizing meetings of Indian delegations with Far Eastern governors and representatives of the Russian business community. In turn, Yuri Trutnev expressed the readiness of the Russian side to assist in organizing these visits.

    The 5th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on September 4-6 in Vladivostok.
