The head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev reported about it on Instagram: "Congratulations! What the republic has been striving for many years has come true!
Today, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which 8 more districts of our republic were included in the Arctic zone: Abyisky, Verkhnekolymsky, Verkhoyansky, Zhigansky, Momsky, Oleneksky, Srednekolymsky and Eveno-Bytantaysky districts. All of them are fully or partially located beyond the Polar Circle.
Now programs for the development of the Arctic will be able to operate here as well as on the territories of the Allaikhovsky, Anabarsky, Bulunsky, Nizhnekolymsky and Ust-Yansky districts.
On behalf of all Yakutia, I thank the President for his support and I am confident that this decision will help develop our Arctic more rapidly!” the message says.
