Heilongjiang Province authorities sent tens of thousands of medical face masks to Yakutia free of charge in gratitude for the region’s help in the early days of the coronavirus epidemic, the Consulate General of Russia in Chinese Harbin reports.

Earlier it was reported that in February, Heilongjiang province asked the authorities of Yakutia to help with medical masks and medicines. The Yakut Cabinet was instructed to provide humanitarian assistance to the Chinese province.

As the head of the region, Aisen Nikolaev, noted, the authorities of the Chinese province are ready to provide reciprocal assistance to Yakutia with masks in the right amount.

“On March 25, at the Harbin Railway Station, a ceremony was held to send a batch of medical protective equipment to combat the spread of the new coronavirus on behalf of the government of Heilongjiang to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The Chinese side provided free assistance to the Russian region at its request. Several tens of thousands of disposable medical face masks were sent from Heilongjiang, including the respiratory type N95,” the Consulate General said.

It is noted that in Heilongjiang they remember the humanitarian aid for medical purposes delivered by Yakutia to the Chinese province in the early days of the outbreak of the new coronavirus epidemic in China.

“Now it is the turn of the Chinese side to help Russian friends. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Office of Foreign Affairs of Heilongjiang Province and the Consulate General of Russia in Harbin,” says the department.
