The national sports club of the ALROSA Cultural and Sports Complex first opened its doors to future champions three months ago. Today, 60 people play the sport: 20 children and 40 adults. We can say that the section is gradually gaining momentum.
Larion Andreev, Master of Sports of Russia in wrestling, Master of Sports of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in hapsagai, trains the athletes. The program includes freestyle wrestling, wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, hapsagai and mas-wrestling. Mas-wrestling translates as “stick tugging” into Russian. By the way, about 20 years ago it was recognized in our country and included in the All-Russian Register of Sports.
“Why did ALROSA pay attention to national sports? The company operates mainly in Yakutia, where hapsagai, mas-wrestling and freestyle wrestling are the main cultivated national sports. The support of ALROSA helps to make them more accessible to the residents of our town. Before opening a new club, the company conducted a survey. The results showed that many people wanted to do hapsagai, mas-wrestling and freestyle wrestling," says Larion Andreev, Master of Sports of Russia in wrestling, Master of Sports of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in hapsagai and a coach at ALROSA CSC.
He is sure that national sports will evolve as much as figure skating, swimming, short track and hockey. Classes are held six times a week. There are both children and adults in the club, it is open to everyone. According to Larion Andreev, the children's group is gradually moving from basic training. At the initial stage, the goal was to attract as many children and teenagers as possible to systematic training.
"Training included outdoor sports, general physical training and acrobatics," says Larion Andreev. “At the training stage, we set the task of improving health, including physical development and also improving the level of physical condition and sports results, considering individual characteristics. In December, we plan to hold the first competitions for children. There are 20 children in this group and the parents fully support us."
Ksenia Chagdurova, Aidar Chagdurov’s mother:
"My son loves activities. He always plays various outdoor games and enjoys it a lot! So, we signed him up for national sports. This is a very interesting sport where you need to have a quick reaction, good coordination and concentration. My son likes it because it’s not too hard, but it develops flexibility, coordination, endurance and muscle strength."
The adult group continues training stage that includes participating in town and regional competitions. "Three months is not enough for results, but we can already boast our success," the coach continues. “Our students Nyurgun Andreev, Albert Migalkin and Ilya Namylov took part in the all-Russian freestyle wrestling tournament. I participated, too. The results were good, we brought one silver and one bronze medals."
Yerofey Khabarov all-Russian freestyle wrestling tournament is one of the oldest competitions in the Far East. Also, the wrestlers of national sports club are preparing for the all-Russian tournament of D. G. Mindiashvili Wrestling Academy for participation in Ivan Yarygin, a highly rated tournament, which will take place in January, 2020 in Krasnoyarsk.
According to Larion Andreev, you can start wrestling at any age. You can also achieve results regardless of age, as long as your health allows. CSC coaches have a very careful approach. They make a special program for each group and for each student, considering their individual characteristics and physical capabilities. In coaching, Larion Andreev uses a mixed method, which means a little bit of everything. His coaching is based on the methods of his best teachers: honored coach of the USSR and Russia Magomed Huseynov and honored coach of Yakutia and Russia Ivan Sivtsev.
“The victories and achievements of the kids are largely the result of extencive work on the development of sports culture in ALROSA. Champions appear where they love and support the sport. Our most important task is to grow a healthy and strong generation. I believe that thanks to ALROSA, Mirny residents have a unique opportunity to play national sports. Hapsagai, mas-wrestling and wrestling are not just sports, they’re the part of the people culture. I think the revival, support and development of national sports is very valuable,” says Motrena Skryabina, the Head of the ALROSA Cultural and Sports Complex. “We have a specially equipped for wrestling room in Olympus sports complex. I would like to note that we are still recruiting to the club. We accept all comers. You can sign up at any time at the following address: 22 Leningradsky Avenue, Mirny. We accept children from 7 to 16 years old, as well as adults. The fee is small. The Cultural and Sports Complex has set the minimum payment. There are various benefits for schoolchildren, students and pensioners."
And most importantly, sport is not just about records and medals. It’s an active lifestyle, health, cheerfulness, optimism and longevity. You don't have to be a professional athlete to benefit from and enjoy sports.
